Is Grubhub busy on Memorial Day? Here’s the answer. In general, you can expect Memorial Day to be fairly busy, as many people have the day off from work and may order food to celebrate the day off. However, because a lot of people may be cooking food at home, so it’s a good idea to temper your expectations as well.

Is Grubhub Busy On Memorial Day?

In general, you can expect Grubhub to be fairly busy on Memorial Day. Grubhub doesn’t have a post about their busiest holidays, but other apps like DoorDash list Memorial Day as one of their busiest holidays. Accordingly, you can probably expect that Grubhub should be fairly busy on Memorial Day.

However, it is important to note that Memorial Day is often thought of as a grilling holiday – i.e. where people grill food at home with their family and friends. That doesn’t mean people aren’t still ordering Grubhub, especially during the lunch and dinner rushes. Many people also travel during the long weekend, so if you live in an area with a lot of tourists, you could also get a lot of deliveries (to hotels in particular) as people order food.

Another thing to note is because Memorial Day is a federal holiday, some restaurants may close for the holiday. In general, I’ve found most restaurants do stay open on Memorial Day, but you could run into some places on Grubhub that are closed but are listed as open in the Grubhub app. As a result, you should consider being strategic about which orders you accept and confirm that the restaurant will be open before heading to the restaurant so you don’t waste your time.

The Best Times To Deliver For Grubhub On Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a lot like a weekend day so, in my experience, you can usually stay busy throughout the day. However, as with any food delivery gig, it’s usually best to work during the lunch and dinner hours when most people are typically going to be placing their Grubhub orders.

If you can, you should try to work around 11 am to 1 pm and around 5 pm to 7 pm. These are the hours most people place Grubhub orders. Avoid working during off-peak hours if you can, as those times will probably be slower.

Final Thoughts

Memorial Day is typically a busy holiday, although, as always, things will differ depending on your market. If you want to maximize your earnings, you should stick to working during the busy lunch and dinner hours when more people are likely to be placing Grubhub orders.
