Is Grubhub Busy On Valentine’s Day?

Is Grubhub busy on Valentine’s Day? In general, yes, you can expect Grubhub to be pretty busy on Valentine’s Day. Many couples may opt not to order delivery and instead go out to eat, but a large number of couples will stay home and order Grubhub for delivery.

That being said, simply being busy isn’t the only thing to think about when deciding whether it makes sense to work on Valentine’s Day. You should ask yourself some other important questions. Will other Grubhub drivers be working on Valentine’s Day? Are restaurants going to be on their game or will they be slow or fall behind when it comes to online orders? Will you make the most money working on Valentine’s Day compared to working on other days?

In this post, we’ll take a closer look at the question of whether Grubhub is busy on Valentine’s Day. We’ll also consider the best times to work if you’re looking to deliver for Grubhub on Valentine’s Day. 

Is Grubhub Busy On Valentine’s Day?

As previously noted, you can expect Grubhub to be fairly busy on Valentine’s Day. Grubhub doesn’t publish official stats on how busy their app is on Valentine’s Day but apps like DoorDash have released data showing that Valentine’s Day is one of its busiest holidays of the year. There’s no reason to think Grubhub isn’t similarly busy. 

It makes sense that Grubhub would be busy on Valentine’s Day when you think about it. While many couples will go out to eat for Valentine’s Day, many others will stay home and either cook at home or order a nice meal using delivery apps like Grubhub. 

All that being said, while Grubhub is typically busy on Valentine’s Day, it can also paradoxically be so busy that it ends up slower than usual for drivers. That’s because when other drivers anticipate it being busy, they may log into their Grubhub driver app, increasing the number of drivers working. While delivery demand could be high, the number of delivery requests you receive could end up being fewer than usual since so many Grubhub drivers are logging into the app, hoping to make money.

If you want to maximize your earnings on Valentine’s Day, my best recommendation is to work in areas with restaurants that serve Valentine’s Day meals. These are likely to be higher-end restaurants, usually sit-down places. The nice thing about higher-end restaurants is that the orders should be higher-value, which means you should be able to get larger tips.

The Best Times To Deliver For Grubhub On Valentine’s Day 

As you can likely guess, the best time to deliver for Grubhub on Valentine’s Day is during the evening dinner rush when the vast majority of people will be placing Valentine’s Day orders. I recommend starting around 5 or 6 pm. You can hopefully expect it to stay relatively busy throughout the evening.

For the rest of the day, you should expect delivery demand to be fairly normal. So if you normally work during the lunch hour or in the morning, continue to do so if you want.

Final Thoughts

In sum, you can expect Grubhub to be busy on Valentine’s Day. If you want to maximize your Grubhub earnings, I recommend working during the evening dinner hours, when more people will be placing orders. Higher-end or upscale restaurants are more likely to see higher delivery demand, so stick around those restaurants. As a bonus, these restaurants also mean higher-priced orders, which should equal larger tips.

Be aware that because other drivers may expect Grubhub to be busy, there could be a surge of drivers logging into the Grubhub driver app. That can lead to fewer delivery requests for each driver. So be aware that while overall demand could be high, it could actually end up slower than usual if too many drivers are logged into the app. That’s why you should make sure to multi-app and also run DoorDash and Uber Eats as well (if you can).
