Are you wondering if Uber Eats is busy on Martin Luther King Day? In short, while it can be busier than normal, most private employers do not treat MLK Day as a holiday, and as a result, most people will be working normally. That means you shouldn’t expect Martin Luther King Day to be any busier or slower than a normal Monday.
Because Martin Luther King Day is, for the most part, a regular day, you’ll want to be strategic about how you do your Uber Eats deliveries. You should aim to work during prime hours and in busy locations.

Is Uber Eats Busy On Martin Luther King Day?
While Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday, most private employers and businesses do not officially observe MLK Day as a holiday. The main people that get the day off are government workers and financial workers (like bankers). For everyone else, MLK Day is likely to be business as usual. Back when I was working in corporate America, I often didn’t even realize it was Martin Luther King Day since it was treated as a regular work day by my employer.
Because MLK Day isn’t treated as a holiday by most employers, business on Uber Eats should be the same as any other non-holiday weekday. Ordering patterns shouldn’t change too much (even if the day was a holiday, most people don’t do anything special on MLK Day – i.e. it’s not a holiday that you spend with family or friends, or one where you cook at home more).
That being said, Martin Luther King Day is on a Monday, and experience shows that Monday is usually slower for Uber Eats compared to later in the week. This usually happens because people are less likely to “treat” themselves to Uber Eats early in the week. As a result, Uber Eats can be slower than normal since it’s a Monday, at least when compared to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Best Times To Do Uber Eats On Martin Luther King Day
The best times to do Uber Eats on MLK should be the same as a normal weekday. Ideally, you want to aim to work during the prime food ordering hours – usually during lunch and dinner.
For the lunch rush, I recommend working between 11 am and 1 pm, when people are most likely to be ordering Uber Eats. You should also be strategic about where you work. Since most private employers don’t treat MLK Day as a holiday, downtown areas with a lot of offices can make sense. However, downtown areas with a lot of financial or government employers could be worth avoiding, since those employees likely won’t be in the office.
During the dinner rush, I recommend working between 5 pm and 8 pm. Your best bet is to stick to busy urban areas with high density and young residents. I recommend working near areas populated with young people because these are the people most likely to order Uber Eats. It helps that these areas also usually have the most restaurants too, which should keep you busier.

Martin Luther King Day is, for the most part, a regular day on Uber Eats. Many employers do not treat it as a holiday, so most people are still working normally like any other day. The exception is government workers and financial workers, who typically get the day off (so avoid areas with a lot of government and financial employers).
If you work during the lunch and dinner hours and stick to busy locations, you should be able to stay busy. Just remember that since MLK Day is on a Monday, there could be less demand since Monday tends to be the slowest day of the week for Uber Eats.
