Uber Eats is a convenient way to order food directly to your door. But if you’re ordering food, you might be wondering what Uber Eats payment methods are accepted.
In this post, we’ll look at all of the Uber Eats payment methods you can use. This post will also tell you what to do if your preferred payment method isn’t working or has been declined.
So without further ado, let’s take a look at all of the Uber Eats payment methods.
List of Uber Eats Payment Methods
As previously mentioned, Uber Eats gives customers several ways to pay for their orders. Here is a list of all of the Uber Eats payment methods.
1. Credit or Debit Cards
Uber Eats accepts credit or debit cards from Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. You can provide your card information in the app, either by manually typing the information in or by scanning your card with the app. I usually find it easier to manually type in my card information, since the scanning option can be finicky.
If you can, I recommend paying for your order with a credit card rather than a debit card. That’s because credit cards generally have better consumer protections. If you have an issue with your order, you’ll usually have an easier time disputing it on a credit card, rather than a debit card.
2. Apple Pay
You can also use Apple Pay to pay for your Uber Eats order. To do so, you’ll need to link your Apple Pay with Uber Eats. If you already have Apple Pay set up on your phone, then using this option can be a convenient way to pay for your order and save you the time of having to add a credit card to your account.
3. PayPal
PayPal is another payment method you can use with Uber Eats. To use PayPal, you’ll need to link your PayPal account to your Uber Eats account. Once you’ve linked your accounts, you’ll be able to pay for your Uber Eats orders with Paypal.
4. Venmo
Most people use Venmo to pay friends and family members, but you can also use Venmo to pay for your Uber Eats order. To do that, you’ll need to link your Venmo account to Uber Eats. Once linked, you can use your Venmo balance to pay for your orders.
5. Gift Cards
Gift cards are another way you can pay for your Uber Eats gift card. If you have a gift card you’d like to add to your account, simply go to the payment methods section of the app, then add your gift card. You’ll need to enter the gift card code into the account and then you’ll be able to use the gift card.
6. Uber Credits
Finally, you can use Uber credits to pay for your Uber Eats orders. One nice thing to know is that Uber credits can be used on both Uber rides and Uber Eats orders, so you have some flexibility with how you use these credits
You can get Uber credits in a few ways. The most common way is by using Uber gift cards. You can apply gift cards to your Uber account, which will then be stored in your account as Uber credits.
Another way to earn Uber credits is through certain credit card benefits. The American Express Platinum Card, for example, gives cardholders $15 of Uber credits each month (and $35 of Uber credits in December). I have this card and since I order with Uber Eats regularly, I think of those Uber credits as similar to cash.
The last way you can get Uber credits is if Uber issues credit to your account. This can happen if you get a refund on an order you placed or if Uber issues you credit because of an issue with your order. I recently had an issue where an order I placed was missing a lot of items when it arrived. Uber issued me a refund on those missing items and also gave me a $5 courtesy credit for the inconvenience.
Uber Eats Payment Methods That Are Not Accepted
The most noticeable payment method that Uber Eats does not accept is cash. It seems like Uber Eats might accept cash payments in a few places in the world but in the United States, cash payments are not accepted. If you want to pay for your order, you’ll need to use one of the payment methods listed above.
What to Do If Your Payment Method Is Not Working or Is Declined
If a payment method you pick isn’t working, you’ll first want to make sure that whatever method you’re using has the funds to cover your order cost. Otherwise, your best bet is to try a different payment method, either by adding a new card or linking a different payment account.
To add a new payment method, go to the payment section in the app and tap on “Add Payment Method”. Then enter your new payment information.

I was charged a 23 dollar cancellation fee on an otder I cancelled 3 minutes after it was placed. It had not been prepared nor had a delivery driver been assigned. I have been a loyal customer for a while and had the uber eats pass. I talk to three different reps and they were like robots saying the same thing. Plus the didn’t even appear to understand what I was writing. This recently happened and I said I was going to stop using this service. Tried again and nothing but a hassle. I have spent a lot of money and have like six things that I complained about. The last representative refused to give me the corporate contact information. Then he ended the chat and said my issue was resolved. It is not
