How do you transfer money from Dasher Direct to your bank account? This post walks you through exactly how to do that. Fortunately, it’s a simple process that only takes a few clicks in the DasherDirect app.
Before we go through the process of transferring money from DasherDirect to your bank account, it may be helpful to provide a brief bit of background on what exactly DasherDirect is. In basic terms, DasherDirect is a prepaid debit card that functions similarly to a bank account. It’s offered directly from DoorDash and all eligible Dashers can open a DasherDirect account for free (importantly, opening a DasherDirect account has no impact on your credit score).
The major benefit of DasherDirect is that you can get your DoorDash earnings in your account daily for free. If you’re someone that uses Fast Pay, opting to open a DasherDirect account and having your DoorDash earnings deposited there is the superior option. DasherDirect is also a surprisingly good account. It has no fees or minimum balance requirements, so as a bank account, it actually isn’t bad.
I’ve written an in-depth post about what DasherDirect is and how it works, so definitely check that out if you’re interested in learning more about DasherDirect.
With that said, let’s walk through how to transfer money from DasherDirect to your bank account.
How To Transfer Money From Dasher Direct To Bank Account
DasherDirect is a prepaid debit card, but for all practical purposes, you can think of it like a bank account. That means just like a bank account, you can link other accounts to it and move money between your different accounts.
Here’s how you transfer money from DasherDirect to your bank account.
- First, open the DasherDirect app, then click “More” in the bottom right corner.
- Next, click on “Move Money.”
- From there, you’ll select “Send Money To Someone.” This will open up a screen where you can add your bank account. Click on “Add Recipient,” then fill out the information including your bank account and routing number.
After you’ve initiated the transfer, you’ll get a message saying your funds are in transfer. You should receive your funds in 1-2 business days (if you use a bank that pays early, such as Lili or Chime, you’ll likely receive your funds within a day, at most). Note that if you’re transferring money on a weekend or holiday, your transfer will be processed the next business day.
It’s also important to note that you can only transfer funds to US bank accounts. This is a limitation that shouldn’t impact most people, but it’s worth noting. If you’re trying to transfer money to international bank accounts, you’ll need to figure out another option.
Finally, transfers are free, so you don’t have to worry about fees with moving money between DasherDirect and your other bank account(s).
DasherDirect Transfer Limits
DasherDirect has limits on how much you can transfer. Here’s what the limits are:
- You can transfer up to $2,000 per 24-hour period, for a maximum of 3 transfers in that span.
- You can transfer up to $5,000 in a month, and up to 30 transfers in a 30-day period.
If you want to get around these transfer limits, you’ll want to log into your external bank accounts, then link DasherDirect to your bank account using your DasherDirect routing number and account number. You can then initiate the transfer from your outside bank, which would avoid these limitations.
Canceling DasherDirect Transfers
If you transfer money but decide you want to cancel it, you’ll need to cancel it before the “same-day cutoff” point. To do that, go to the “Move Money” menu in the DasherDirect app, then click the button to cancel the transfer.
If you don’t see a button to cancel the transfer, it means your transfer has already been processed and you won’t be able to cancel it. In general, if you’re going to cancel a transfer, do it immediately.
Final Thoughts
Transferring money from DasherDirect to your bank account is easy. All you have to do is add your bank account as a recipient in the DasherDirect app, then initiate a transfer.
There are limits to how much you can transfer in a 24-hour and 30-day period, but you can always get around that if you need to by going to your regular bank account and initiating the transfer from your bank instead.
