In general, you can expect Memorial Day to be fairly busy, as many people have the day off from work and may order food to celebrate. Indeed, DoorDash lists it as one of their busiest holidays of the year.

Is DoorDash Busy On Memorial Day?

In general, DoorDash is fairly busy on Memorial Day. DoorDash lists it as one of their top 10 busiest holidays, although it’s important to note that when DoorDash says that, they’re only comparing Memorial Day to other official holidays (i.e. busy days like the Super Bowl or other big sports events aren’t included in that list).

One thing to note is that Memorial Day is often thought of as a grilling holiday, where people grill food at home with family and friends. This can be true, but it doesn’t mean people aren’t still ordering food, especially during the lunch and dinner rushes. A lot of people also travel during the long weekend, so if you live in an area with a lot of tourists, you could also get a lot of deliveries (to hotels in particular) as people order food.

Another thing to note is that because Memorial Day is a federal holiday, some restaurants may close for the holiday. In general, I’ve found most restaurants do stay open on Memorial Day, but you could run into some places that are closed. If that does happen, make sure to mark the restaurant as closed, as you will receive half-pay for the order if the restaurant is closed when you arrive.

The Best Times To Dash On Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a lot like a weekend day, so you can usually stay busy throughout the day. However, as with any food delivery gig, it’s usually best to work during the lunch and dinner hours when most people are typically going to be placing DoorDash orders.

That means, if you can, you should try to work around 11 am to 1 pm and around 5 pm to 7 pm. These are the hours most people place DoorDash orders.

Final Thoughts

Memorial Day is typically a busy holiday, although, as always, things will differ depending on your market. If you want to maximize your earnings, you should stick to working during the busy lunch and dinner hours when more people are likely to be placing DoorDash orders.
