Can you split payment on DoorDash? There are two situations where you might be looking to split your payment on DoorDash. The first is if you’re ordering food and want to split between two different payment methods. The second is if you’re ordering food and want to split payments between two or more people.
Here’s the answer. DoorDash does not let you split your order between two different payment methods except if you’re paying with a DoorDash gift card and don’t have enough on the card to cover the entire order. They do, however, let you split payments between two or more people through their group ordering feature.
In this post, we’ll take a look at how splitting payments on DoorDash works.
Can You Split Payment On DoorDash?
Here’s a more detailed look at the way you can split payments on DoorDash.
1. Splitting Between Two Different Payment Methods
DoorDash does not give you the option to split between two different payment methods. While DoorDash does accept a wide variety of payment methods, they’ve never added functionality for multiple payment methods on one order. It’s unlikely they’ll add this feature in the future either, as there’s not much reason for them to do so.
That being said, there are two situations when you can pay for an order using two different payment methods. If you’re paying for an order using a DoorDash gift card, you’ll be prompted to add a second form of payment if your DoorDash gift card doesn’t have enough funds on it. This is obviously a good thing because it means you’ll be able to liquidate your gift card, instead of being forced to either add more money to your gift card or forego the funds that are already on it.
You will also be able to add a second payment method if you’re paying using DoorDash credits, but don’t have enough credits to cover your order. In this situation, DoorDash will use all the credits you have, then you’ll have to pay the remaining amount using a different payment method (such as Apple Pay). Again, this is good because it means you can use all of your remaining DoorDash credits without worry.
2. Splitting Payments Between Two Or More People
A more useful scenario is splitting payments between two or more people. If you’re ordering food for a group of people, it’s a lot easier if each person can pay for their portion of the order, rather than having one person pay for the order and then have to collect money from everyone else.
Fortunately, DoorDash has a feature called Group Ordering, which allows DoorDash customers to place their own orders in the same delivery. That way, instead of requiring one person to coordinate and place the order for everyone, each person can view the menu using their phone and add what they want to the order. Once everyone has placed their order, whoever set up the Group Order can submit the order.
Importantly, Group Orders allow each customer to submit their payment information to pay for their portion of the order. This makes things a lot easier logistically by having each person pay for their portion of the group order with their own cards.
Final Thoughts
In general, you can split payment on DoorDash if you’re placing a Group Order. Individual orders, on the other hand, are limited to a single payment method unless you’re paying with a gift card or DoorDash credits and don’t have enough funds to cover the entire order.
