Is DoorDash Busy On Christmas Eve?

Is DoorDash busy on Christmas Eve? It’s a question you might be asking yourself if you’re hoping to work during the holidays. The short answer is that DoorDash usually isn’t very busy on Christmas Eve. That doesn’t mean there isn’t any business, and depending on what time of day you work, it can be pretty much like a normal day. But you shouldn’t go into Christmas Eve expecting to make a lot of money with DoorDash. 

In this post, we’ll take a deeper dive into the question of whether DoorDash is busy on Christmas Eve and look at what you can do the make the most money on that day.

Is DoorDash Busy On Christmas Eve?

Christmas Eve isn’t a full-fledged major holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas Day. That means, unlike other major holidays where everything is closed and few people are ordering food, Christmas Eve can be a bit busier, with people ordering food like a normal day. 

That being said, you can expect that Christmas Eve will generally be slower than a regular day. Few people are working that day, so the lunch rush won’t be as busy. And while some people may order dinner, most people will be eating at home with family and many restaurants close early on Christmas Eve as well. And if you live in a college town or are working near a college campus, you can expect that few students will be around, since most will have gone home for the holidays. 

So in sum, you shouldn’t expect things to be very busy on Christmas Eve. It won’t be completely dead, but there likely won’t be much going on either.

Best Times To Do DoorDash On Christmas Eve

The best time to do DoorDash on Christmas Eve is during the lunch hour. There are two reasons why the lunch hour will probably be your best bet. 

First, most people are spending time with their family on Christmas Eve, so they may not be ordering food for dinner. However, at lunch, people may still be working or doing other things, so there’s a higher chance that people will order DoorDash during the lunch rush (between 11 am and 1 pm).  

Second, many restaurants close early on Christmas Eve, which means there are fewer restaurants people can order from. If restaurants are closed, you won’t get many delivery requests. 

For these reasons, if you want to work during Christmas Eve, it’s best to work over the lunch hour.

Final Thoughts

Christmas Eve is generally a slow day for DoorDash. It’s not completely dead the way Thanksgiving or Christmas Day is, but it’ll still be one of the slower days of the year for food delivery.

If you want to make some money on Christmas Eve, your best bet is to work earlier in the day, ideally during the lunch hour when you’ll have the best chance of getting delivery requests.
