Is DoorDash busy on Christmas? You may be asking yourself this question if you’re looking to earn some extra money on Christmas day. The short answer is that DoorDash is not typically busy on Christmas. Most people simply aren’t ordering food on Christmas and even if they wanted to, most restaurants aren’t open.

In this post, we’ll take a closer look at the question of whether DoorDash is busy on Christmas and discuss some of the best times to do DoorDash on Christmas if you are planning to work then.

Is DoorDash Busy On Christmas?

As mentioned in the introduction of this post, DoorDash is not busy on Christmas. Indeed, of the major US holidays, I’d say Christmas is likely the slowest one (it’s either Thanksgiving or Christmas as the two slowest days of the year for DoorDash).

It’s easy to understand why DoorDash isn’t busy on Christmas. Most people aren’t ordering food on Christmas day because they’re spending time with family. Instead, they’ll be cooking food at home.

Even for people that don’t celebrate Christmas, Christmas Day is a tough day for DoorDash because most restaurants aren’t open. While DoorDash doesn’t have any set opening or closing times, it can only offer delivery if there are restaurants open and taking orders. If there aren’t open restaurants, then people can’t order DoorDash.

Best Times To Do DoorDash On Christmas

If you are planning to work on Christmas, you’ll want to be strategic about when you work. Working during the day is not a good idea. The vast majority of people that will order food on Christmas aren’t going to do so in the middle of the day. Plus, most restaurants aren’t going to be open during the day.

Your best bet will be to work during the evening when some restaurants may be open and people are most likely to be placing DoorDash orders. In particular, Chinese restaurants are your best bet. It’s a widely known fact that a lot of Chinese restaurants stay open on Christmas Day, and indeed, many Chinese restaurants can get pretty busy in the evening on Christmas. My family often goes out to eat at Chinese restaurants on Christmas and it’s always pretty busy.

If you want to make money on Christmas, I recommend staying in areas near Chinese restaurants. You’ll receive the most orders and give yourself the best shot of making some money on Christmas.

Final Thoughts

Christmas generally isn’t a busy time for DoorDash. For most people, I recommend taking a break on Christmas Day and spending time with your family or friends. It simply isn’t going to be very busy on Christmas and you won’t make that much for your time.

That doesn’t mean there’s no money to be made on Christmas. If you are planning to work, try to do it in the evening when the most restaurants will be open and you have the best chance of staying busy. Stick near busy Chinese restaurants if you can. If you follow these tips, you’ll hopefully be able to maximize your time on Christmas and make the most money you can make.
