Is DoorDash busy on Thanksgiving? As you might expect, DoorDash is usually not busy on Thanksgiving. Indeed, in my experience, it might very well be the slowest day of the year for DoorDash (I’d say it’s either Thanksgiving or Christmas as the two slowest days of the year for food delivery).
In this post, we’ll take a look at what DoorDash is like on Thanksgiving and whether it’s a day worth Dashing.
Is DoorDash Busy On Thanksgiving?
As mentioned, DoorDash is generally not busy on Thanksgiving. Indeed, it’s probably one of the slowest days of the year for DoorDash (if not the slowest day of the year). There are two main reasons why DoorDash isn’t busy on Thanksgiving.
First, as you can guess, most people aren’t ordering delivery because they’re eating Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. Instead of ordering food delivery, Thanksgiving is a time for people to get together and have home-cooked meals. As a result, there aren’t a lot of customers ordering food.
The second reason DoorDash isn’t busy on Thanksgiving is that most restaurants are closed for the holiday. Even if people want to order food, there are not a lot of restaurants open for people to order from. DoorDash can only work if restaurants are open, so if restaurants are closed, you can expect that DoorDash won’t be busy.
Is DoorDash Busy On The Day Before Thanksgiving?
While DoorDash isn’t busy on Thanksgiving, it can get busy on the day before Thanksgiving. DoorDash lists the day before Thanksgiving as one of the top 10 busiest holidays for DoorDash. That means if you want to make money during the Thanksgiving holiday, your best bet is to Dash on the day before Thanksgiving.
The dinner hours can work out particularly well on the day before Thanksgiving. You can see why the day before Thanksgiving might be busy if you think about what people are doing. If you’re going to be preparing a lot of food on Thanksgiving, it makes sense to order DoorDash the night before and save yourself some time.
The day before Thanksgiving is also a time when a lot of people are home for the holiday. That means people might be ordering food to feed a large group of people. This can make DoorDash busier than usual.
However, whether it’ll be busy on the day before Thanksgiving also depends on where you live. If you live in a big city or a city with a lot of families, you can expect the day before Thanksgiving to be busy. But if you live in a college town, the day before Thanksgiving is likely going to be slow since most of the students will have left for the holiday.
The Best Times To Do DoorDash On Thanksgiving
Unfortunately, there aren’t any particularly good times to Dash on Thanksgiving. Most restaurants aren’t going to be open on Thanksgiving, so even if people were ordering food, there wouldn’t be restaurants available to order from.
If you’re dead set on Dashing during Thanksgiving, you’ll probably want to aim to work earlier in the day, when some restaurants may be open. Otherwise, late in the night could also offer some opportunity, as some restaurants might open late for Black Friday sales.
That being said, in my opinion, DoorDash isn’t worth doing on Thanksgiving. My advice is to take a break from DoorDash and spend time with your family and friends.
Final Thoughts
Thanksgiving is one of the slowest holidays for DoorDash and one of the slowest days of the year for food delivery. While the DoorDash app is open and available for customers, there aren’t many restaurants open and few customers are ordering because they’re spending time with family.
My advice – don’t waste your time with DoorDash on Thanksgiving. Spend your time relaxing, eat some good food, and wait for busier days.
