Every once in a while, you might go to place an order on Uber Eats and receive a message stating that there are “no Uber Eats couriers nearby.” This can be frustrating because when you get that message, it means you can’t place an order at that restaurant.
When you receive the “no Uber Eats couriers nearby” message, it means that there are no available Uber Eats couriers working in that area or the delivery is going too far away for any Uber Eats drivers in that area to accept.
In this post, we’ll go into more detail about what it means when you receive this message and what you can do about it.
No Uber Eats Couriers Nearby Meaning
If you try to place an order at a restaurant that doesn’t have any available Uber Eats couriers nearby, you’ll receive a message telling you that there are no Uber Eats couriers nearby. The restaurant will also be blocked out and you won’t be able to place an order at that restaurant.
The main reason you’ll receive this message is if there actually are no Uber Eats couriers nearby. This is most likely to happen during off-peak hours, such as in the early morning or late at night.
The other primary reason you’ll see this message is if you’re placing an order at a restaurant that is far away from you. Most drivers aren’t willing to accept orders going very long distances, so if the restaurant is too far away, Uber Eats may show that there are no Uber Eats couriers nearby.
Finally, in rare circumstances, demand for Uber Eats may be so high that Uber Eats can’t find a driver because all drivers are busy with orders. This is very rare – almost all of the time, there are enough drivers to complete orders, even during the highest demand times.
There are other reasons why you might get this message. For example, one potential reason you might get this message is if the Uber Eats app is down or is having issues.
That being said, the main reason you’ll get this message is if you’re ordering during very off-peak hours (think late night or early morning, when people aren’t going to be working) or you’re trying to order from a restaurant that’s too far away from you.
What To Do If There Are No Uber Eats Couriers Nearby
If there are no Uber Eats couriers nearby, you have a few options to fix the problem.
The first is to change your order to pick up. You can always place an order for pickup in the Uber Eats app. This is also beneficial because you avoid paying delivery fees. Be aware, however, that most restaurants on Uber Eats do charge higher prices in the Uber Eats app to cover the commissions that pay to Uber.
The second option is to pick a restaurant that is closer to you. A lot of the time, if there are no Uber Eats couriers nearby, it’s because you’re too far away from the restaurant. Switching to a closer restaurant makes it more likely you’ll find a driver to deliver your order.
The third option is to wait. Most of the time, even if the restaurant is far away, drivers will eventually log in and Uber Eats will be able to find someone to deliver your order. Obviously, if you can’t wait, then switching to a different restaurant or opting to pick up the order yourself will be the best option.
Canceling An Uber Eats Order If It’s Taking Too Long
This is more fully addressed in other posts I’ve written, but if you place an order and Uber Eats has trouble finding a driver to pick up your food, you will get the option to cancel your order and receive a full refund. You can also opt to keep waiting and receive some Uber Eats credit that you can use on future orders.

Final Thoughts
In most circumstances, you won’t ever see this message. The vast majority of the time, Uber Eats will find a driver to deliver your order.
In my experience, I receive this message most often when I’m trying to order from a restaurant that’s far away. In general, it’s best to keep your orders to closeby restaurants. It’ll give you a better experience since your food will arrive faster and be more fresh.
