DoorDash Pizza Bag

The DoorDash Pizza Bag is exactly as it sounds like – it’s a pizza bag that DoorDash sells, complete with the DoorDash branded logos on it.

When you get the pizza bag, you’ll be eligible to join the DoorDash pizza program, which gives you preference for any pizza orders in your area. DoorDash claims you can make more on these pizza orders (I’ll discuss whether I think that’s true in this post – but spoiler alert, I don’t think there’s any real difference between pizza orders and every other type of order).

In this post, we’ll take a look at what the DoorDash pizza bag is, discuss how the Doordash pizza program works, and give you my thoughts on whether I think it’s worth getting the pizza bag.

The DoorDash Pizza Bag is the same as every other pizza bag that you see with other pizza delivery companies. It’s a large insulated delivery bag specifically designed to hold pizzas.

DoorDash sells a branded pizza bag, which you can find here. DoorDash doesn’t give this bag out for free, so if you want to get it, you’ll have to buy it.

Remember that when you sign up for DoorDash, you get a free delivery bag in your activation kit. The delivery bag is a normal bag that’s good for holding regular food orders, but if you want to get more advanced, getting specialty bags like the DoorDash catering bag, the DoorDash pizza bag, or a good food delivery backpack can make things much easier for you and potentially give you access to higher-paying orders.

Similar to the DoorDash catering bag, the DoorDash pizza bag gives you access to a program with different orders that can potentially be higher paying. If you want to get into the DoorDash pizza program, you’ll have to get a pizza bag (although it doesn’t necessarily have to be a branded pizza bag).

The DoorDash Pizza Program

If you get the DoorDash catering bag, you can enroll in the DoorDash large order program, which gives you access to potentially higher-paying catering orders.

The DoorDash pizza program is similar, although it’s easier to enroll in the pizza program than it is to enroll in the large order program. If you sign up for the DoorDash pizza program, you’ll get priority preference for any pizza orders in your area.

To get into the DoorDash pizza program, first, you need to have a pizza delivery bag. It doesn’t have to be a DoorDash branded bag, so if you prefer, you can get any pizza bag at Amazon. There are some cheaper options on there, although the pizza bag is similarly priced to other comparable bags. To qualify as a pizza bag, it must be: (1) insulated and (2) be a standard pizza bag size (at least 18″ W x 18″ L x 6″ D).

Next, you’ll need to enroll in the pizza program and submit a photo of your pizza bag. To do that, go to this DoorDash page. Within that page, you’ll find a link to a Google Form, where you can enroll in the program and submit a photo of your bag. Once you’re enrolled, you’ll get priority on pizza orders.

Should You Get The DoorDash Pizza Bag?

DoorDash claims that pizza orders generally pay more, although I think that’s probably a dubious claim. Pizzas don’t cost much more than other food items people order on DoorDash and since most of the payment a Dasher gets is from the tip, it stands to reason that pizza orders would pay similarly to any other type of order.

Even without the pizza bag, I have been able to get pizza orders. I do my deliveries on an ebike or electric scooter, so most of the time, I reject these orders unless they aren’t going very far. The pizza orders I do accept don’t seem to pay any differently than other orders I get on DoorDash.

If you’re getting a pizza order, it’s also usually okay to not put it in a pizza bag. Unless the order is traveling really far away, most pizzas will stay plenty warm. The most important thing with pizza orders is to make sure the box doesn’t tip over. The worst thing you can do is hold the box sideways and deliver a squished-up pizza.

Final Thoughts

If you want to get more advanced, getting the pizza bag is a fine option. It doesn’t cost much – a bit over $20 at the time I write this. It’ll only take a few deliveries to earn your money back on the pizza bag purchase. And when things are slow, getting priority on pizza orders could make a difference in what you’re able to earn with DoorDash.
