Is DoorDash Busy On New Year’s Day?

Is DoorDash busy on New Year’s Day? You can generally expect New Year’s Day to be busy on DoorDash. In fact, DoorDash tracks this information and their data shows that New Year’s Day has been one of their busiest holidays for the past two years (see here and here). 

This makes logical sense. For many people, New Year’s Day is a day of recovery after a night of celebrating. Rather than preparing your own food, it makes sense that many people would order delivery with apps like DoorDash. That means an opportunity for you if you’re a DoorDash Dasher looking to find a good day to work.

In this post, we’ll take a closer look at the question of whether DoorDash is busy on New Year’s Day. We’ll also discuss the best times to work on DoorDash on New Year’s Day and a few strategies you can use to make the most money possible.

Is DoorDash Busy On New Year’s Day? 

As previously stated, New Year’s Day is considered one of the busiest days of the year for DoorDash. People are home, probably recovering from a night of partying. Rather than prepare their own food, many people are going to be ordering food delivery. 

That means DoorDash is likely going to be busy for many Dashers. Since most people have the day off, DoorDash should be busy throughout the day. Still, if you want to maximize your earnings, it’s going to be best to work during lunch and dinner hours, when you can expect the most people to be placing orders.

The Best Time To Do DoorDash On New Year’s Day 

New Year’s Day is typically busy throughout the day since a lot of people’s schedules are different on New Year’s Day after staying up late the night before. I like to think of New Year’s Day as similar to a busy weekend day. That’s when people are home from work, busy with other things, and treating themselves with DoorDash.

That said, the best time to do DoorDash will be during the dinner rush when you’ll find the most customers ordering food. Almost all restaurants will be open and they’ll likely be busy too. 

As with any other day, you should always be strategic about how you DoorDash. You want to be strategic about the orders you accept and only accept orders that are profitable and that come from reliable restaurants that don’t keep you waiting too long.

If possible, you’ll also want to multi-app to maximize your earnings – that is, sign up for other food delivery apps like Uber Eats and Grubhub, then turn all of them on and do deliveries with them. This is one of the most important DoorDash hacks I recommend. By multi-apping, you’ll keep yourself busy, give yourself the best orders, and maximize your earnings. Whenever I work, I always turn on Uber Eats and Grubhub and do deliveries from all the apps at the same time.

New Year’s Day is typically a good day for DoorDash. If you’re looking for a good day to work, New Year’s Day is not a bad choice at all. 

As always, be strategic about how you do your deliveries. Stay in busy areas and only accept orders that make sense for you. If you do that, you’ll be able to maximize your earnings and take advantage of a busy day on DoorDash.
